Job title: Purchasing Engineer

Report to: Supply Chain & Quality Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop suppliers to meet Electrocraft requirements and to better control their processes
Drive corrective action for supplier non-conformances for sample making, pilot run and mass production
Track and resolve supplier non-conformance issues using a cross-functional problem solving approach both internally and at suppliers
Audit supplier systems and processes based on ISO 9001 or product requirements
Support Purchaser/Buyer for any technical problem during sourcing process
To source new vendor with Purchaser/Buyer
Perform supplier process audits and quality system audits at supplier’s facility
Develop suppliers such that they are able to control their processes through the use of FMEAs, Control Plans, capability studies, corrective action systems, gage calibration systems, gage studies and preventive maintenance systems
Report status of supplier non-conformances, corrective actions, ratings, audit results, and visits regularly to supplier with quality engineer/buyer
Maintain and ensure that the goals of the ISO 9001 Quality System related to supplied product are met
Travel 30% to Mainland China suppliers
Perform any other duties as requested by Supply Chain & Quality Manager

EXPERIENCE
At least 4-5 years’ experience as a Quality or Production Engineer in the electrical motor or metal manufacturing industry
Process and quality system auditing experience
Review PPAP experience is preferable
Problem solving and root cause analysis experience (e.g. Six Sigma – DMAIC preferred)
Computer experience with MS Windows, Outlook and MS Office Package.

EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science Degree or Polytechnic Diploma in Quality & Reliability, Purchasing & Supply china management or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent

DESIRED SKILLS
Good oral and written communication skills in both English
Experience manufacturing and testing electrical or electronic assemblies, and troubleshooting electrical or electronic quality issues.
Demonstrated skill in cross-functional problem-solving.
High level of enthusiasm, active and self-discipline/organization
